Site Requirements & Logistics
To ensure a seamless delivery and setup on the day, please review our standard site requirements. Our team is expert at navigating rural and unique venues, but a few basics are essential for the units to operate at their best:
Water Supply (Crucial): Unlike the toilet units, these require a constant mains water connection or a high-capacity bowser. We need to plumb the unit in upon delivery to ensure a steady flow for the high-pressure pumps.
Power Requirements: A constant 13-amp (household) or 16-amp (industrial) power supply is needed to run the internal pumps, LED lighting, and the ignition for the boilers.
Gas Supply: The units are powered by LPG. We provide 47kg gas bottles as standard with each hire to guarantee consistent hot water for the duration of the event.
Drainage (Grey Water): You need to plan for “grey water” runoff. This usually needs to be piped to a soakaway, a nearby drain, or a specific waste tank, depending on the venue’s environmental rules.
Access & Space:
Entrance: A minimum of 3 metres width is required for the 4×4 and trailer.
Footprint: You need a level area of roughly 7m x 4m to accommodate the unit and the fold-down safety steps.
Ground Conditions: The units must be placed on level, firm ground (hard-standing, gravel, or dry grass) to ensure the drainage systems and doors function correctly.

Water & Heating
How is the water heated in the shower blocks?
Every Cartaloo shower unit is fitted with a powerful LPG gas-boiler system. We provide 47kg gas bottles with every hire as standard. This ensures a consistent, “home-standard” water temperature even if the showers are being used back-to-back. We also do not connect to customers own gas supply on site. We can provide a water bowser at an extra cost.
Is the water pressure high enough for a "proper" shower?
Definitely. We use high-grade internal pumps to ensure that your guests enjoy a powerful, refreshing shower experience rather than a “drip.”
Logistics & Drainage
Do the showers come with gas for hot water?
Yes. All shower units are supplied with 47kg gas bottles to ensure plenty of hot water for your guests. Alternatively, if you have your own supply on-site, we are happy to connect to that instead.
Logistics & Insurance
Are delivery and collection charges extra?
Our units produce “grey water” (soapy water from the drains). Depending on your site and local regulations, this can often be piped into a soakaway, a nearby drain, or collected in a waste tank. We can advise on the best solution during your site consultation.
How much space is needed for a 4-bay or 6-bay unit?
These units are substantial trailers. You will need a level area of approximately 7m x 4m to allow for the unit itself and the fold-down steps. We also require clear access for a 4×4 vehicle to manoeuvre the unit into place
Hygiene & Comfort
Are the cubicles private?
Yes. Each shower is a completely self-contained, lockable compartment. Every bay includes a dedicated dry area with seating and hooks, so your guests can change in private without getting their clothes damp.
How often should the units be cleaned?
We deliver every unit in immaculate condition. For multi-day festivals or large weddings, we can provide an on-site attendant service to ensure the blocks are cleaned and stocked with fresh mats/consumables throughout the day.
